Barring new dangerous strains of COVID-19, growth in Europe will be strongly above potential in 2022 and 2023, yet volatility will also stay high because of daily disruptions. In the longer term, growth in Europe will be approximately 1 percent per year, systematically lower compared to other major regions. Countries in Central and Eastern Europe will see faster growth despite increasing political uncertainty.
