13 November 2020 / Report
CEO and Executive Compensation Practices in the Russell 3000 and S&P 500: 2020 Edition documents trends and developments in senior management compensation at 2,402 companies issuing equity securities registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that filed their proxy statement in the period between January 1 and June 30, 2020, and, as of January 2020, were included in the Russell 3000 Index. In addition to total compensation figures, the study offer details on base salaries and incentive-related elements of a typical compensation package—including annual bonuses (discretionary bonus plus nonequity incentive), stock awards (including long-term incentive cash), and stock option grants—as well as on perquisites and, unlike many other annual publications on the subject, changes in pension value. The compensation analysis includes both CEOs and other named executive officers (NEOs). The project is a collaboration among The Conference Board, compensation consulting firm Semler Brossy, and ESG data analytics firm ESGAUGE.
