Let Corporate Strategy and Culture Guide Adoption of Pay Transparency

October 28, 2022 | Report

Government mandates requiring wage and salary disclosures are increasing. The potential for unintended consequences is real, but with thought and preparation, firms and workers can benefit.

Driven by demands for pay equity and to improve workers’ bargaining position, the movement toward greater pay transparency is gaining momentum. Firms that resist, or stick to the letter of the law, may generate mistrust among employees and other stakeholders, leading to workplace discord and higher attrition. Those that embrace the spirit of the mandates and thoughtfully go beyond can gain a recruiting, retention, and performance advantage.
