This first release in a new series from The Conference Board focuses on intangible assets—why they matter, how they are measured, and their importance to both national economies and individual firms. This initial issue provides an introduction to intangible assets based on research conducted by The Conference Board. It also presents an overview of a May 2011 conference cohosted by The Conference Board in Washington, D.C., entitled New Building Blocks for Jobs and Economic Growth: Intangible Assets as Sources of Increased Productivity and Enterprise Value. Future editions will take a closer look at the complex issues surrounding intangible assets and their impact at both the national account and firm levels.
