In 2025, more than half (52%) of respondents to our annual Job Satisfaction survey report that they work remotely at least part of the time. Hybrid work arrangements––rather than fully on-site or fully remote––predict higher overall job satisfaction across all age groups, but younger workers may benefit more from less remote work than others.
Workers aged 18-24 are––by a wide margin––the least satisfied age cohort in our survey, as has been the case since 2022 (see full Job Satisfaction survey results). Determining how to motivate this cohort is increasingly vital as Generation Z’s presence in the workforce accelerates. Work arrangements may offer a subtle but important clue. By a wider margin than older workers, 18- to 24-year-olds reveal greater overall job satisfaction when they are on-site two to three days per week than they do when they are remote four days per week or fully remote.
