In addition to the efforts made by independent industry bodies to induct more women directors on Indian corporate boards, those boards need to enforce the mandate to make sure those directors are independent. This report analyzes the levels of compliance by Indian companies to the Companies Act, 2013 and the Equity Listing Standard prescribed by the Securities and Exchange Board of India.
