Today’s corporate communications departments are the equivalent of an internal media company. Instead of simply disseminating press releases and acting as the company’s representative to reporters, they help efforts to roll out new strategy, enhance the customer experience, and increase employee engagement. In each of these cases, corporate communications acts as the bridge between the strategy/brand promise and employees and customers. Because of this shift in focus, it might be better to think of the job as “corporate strategy execution officer.”
