The CMO+CCO Meter was established to track the sentiments of chief communications officers (CCOs). Happiness in their overall job satisfaction is a function of all factors the survey addresses: business impact, resources, team, tools, recognition, workload, and most of all, the work itself. These factors are interlinked with each other and with the operating environment of the team.

Trusted Insights for What’s Ahead®

  • Recognition dips slightly as perceived business impact declines. The Meter detects a slight decline in impact, and this drives a decline in feeling happy about the recognition the team receives. This comes at the same time as a double-digit drop in CCOs feeling well equipped for driving business impact in the next six months, indicating challenges continuing with the turbulent environment.
  • Leading communications is tough for the few. The majority of CCOs remain very happy in their work. However, 10% of communications leaders say they are unhappy in their work, and this has a very high correlation w
