Organization design (OD) is both a science and an art. The science includes using the new design to solve a business problem and developing design criteria. The art involves building relationships and influencing others. Finding the right balance between these elements is the real challenge. Companies may want to build an internal OD capability to more effectively balance a design based on strategy with quality client relationships.
