According to findings by our colleagues at Ipsos, the tech and kitchen products that people want in their lives have changed quite a bit between 2011 and 2025. Between tech devices and home appliances, the former are even more essential to people’s daily lives now.
Since 2011, smartphones have become more popular than home computers. Although devices like irons, sewing machines, toasters, mixers, and even microwaves have lost some favor, home coffee machines remain popular—they just might be more sophisticated today.
The TCB take: For marketers, it’s essential to stay on top of their customers’ needs and habits. That relates not just to products but also to services—just think of the trajectory of in-person travel agencies and photo development labs—and other marketing instruments such as communications channels, places of distribution, and pricing policies.
