Executive Brief: US Spending Moderated in Q3 but Should Remain Strong through Holiday Season

The US Consumer Expenditure Outlook for 2019 points to a solid finish for the year of 2.6 percent growth in consumer spending, after strong growth in Q2 and Q3. While expecting steep discounts, consumers are planning to increase their holiday spending, and are very enthusiastic about online shopping.
