Marketing Has Positive Momentum and Satisfaction Remains Very High

July 18, 2025

CMO+CCO Meter, June 2025: Marketing’s Satisfaction

The CMO+CCO Meter was established to track the sentiments of chief marketing officers (CMOs). Happiness in their overall job satisfaction is always high, but the recent wave of the Meter shows they feel happier about their workload. Recognition falls a little, corresponding to CEO perceptions of impact, but not to a significant degree.

Trusted Insights for What’s Ahead®

  • Workload is more manageable because of teams and tools. The upswing in satisfaction with the workload is not because there is less work being done. The correlation with improving resources drives efficiencies that lighten the load. The previous Meter suggested that the downturn in workload might be an early warning signal, but that proves not to be the case.
  • Despite ongoing turbulence, satisfaction remains high. Marketing leaders are consistently very positive about their work, and despite the market volatility of the last six months, marketing continues to improve its impact on the business. Although recognition fell slightly, we expect it to rebound.
