Melanie Velten is Council Director of the Internal Communications Strategy Council at The Conference Board, bringing more than 30 years of international experience in human resources, organizational development, and business transformation. She has built her career helping senior leaders strengthen organizational capability, lead through change, and align talent strategy with business priorities in complex, fast-moving environments.

Before joining The Conference Board, Melanie spent nearly 24 years at Tetra Pak in a series of senior HR and organizational leadership roles. Most recently, as Director of Organisational Development & Capability, she led a company-wide reorganization and major transformation programs through large global project teams. She also spearheaded a global competence development and AI-based talent intelligence platform initiative, created an expert network, designed a next-generation talent and performance management system, and led a legal entity consolidation project. Earlier, as Global Human Resources Business Partner (VP), she partnered with C-level leaders across multiple regrions to deliver short- and long-term business goals, with particular depth in leadership succession, strategic workforce planning, organization design, labor and employee relations, and change management.

Her earlier career included HR leadership roles at Insurance City, where she helped build the HR function for a newly founded internet start-up, and at DG Bank in Frankfurt/Rhine-Main. Across sectors including manufacturing, financial services, and digital business, Melanie is known for combining strategic judgment with practical execution to help organizations build the structures, skills, and leadership needed to perform and grow.
