Lisa Armstrong is Bechtel’s Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, responsible for setting and executing the company’s global strategy to foster a culture of belonging where all colleagues feel valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential. In this role, she drives initiatives that advance equity, attract top talent, and ensure everyone has opportunities for continuous growth and advancement.

Lisa joined Bechtel in 1998 and has over 25 years of experience with the company, holding a series of leadership and operational roles spanning human resources, ethics and compliance, subcontracts, procurement, and environmental science. She began her Bechtel career on the Bechtel Jacobs environmental cleanup project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, as a chemist and subcontract administrator for environmental laboratory and quality assurance contracts. Subsequently, Lisa served on the Yucca Mountain Project in Las Vegas, Nevada, as a subcontract technical representative and then as a senior investigator supporting the Employee Concerns Program. Her analytical expertise led her to further responsibilities in employee relations, ethics and compliance, and staffing leadership at Kwajalein Range Services in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

Throughout her career, Lisa continued to take on critical human resources leadership roles—including HR manager for the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense project in Huntsville, Alabama; ethics and compliance manager for Bechtel’s Nuclear, Security & Environmental business; HR manager at the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant in Richland, Washington; and HR manager at Vogtle Units 3 & 4 in Waynesboro, Georgia. Most recently, she served as HR manager and strategic business partner for the Nuclear, Security & Environmental global business unit, guiding a team of HR business partners while championing a broad range of people-focused initiatives.

A passionate advocate for equity and diversity, Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Elizabeth City State University. She has additional work experience prior to Bechtel and has dedicated her career to ensuring that every individual is valued and supported.
