The Conference Board Human Capital in Review™: Focus on Health Care (Vol. 1, No. 1, 2013)

Aside from political debates, the implementation of the Affordable Care Act has implications for businesses both within and outside the health care sector—which itself accounts for 18 percent of GDP—including labor markets, retention, and innovation. The breadth of this massive fundamental change in the health care system in itself is a challenge: this publication is a special issue of our Human Capital in Review series, and includes summaries of research and studies to help companies comprehend and process the changes. Topics include:

  • The effects on employers
  • Health insurance exchanges
  • The employer mandate (temporary relief)
  • Behavioral habits and health care costs
  • The effects on regional labor markets
