On the Record With ... Bertrand Collomb

Bertrand Collomb, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Lafarge, France believes the ability of a company to change is critical to its long-term success. Western-based companies are at a disadvantage when it comes to costs and, in some cases, the availability of labor and natural resources. “Innovation,” he says, “especially in the industrialized countries, is the only way we can compensate for some of the handicaps that we have.” But Europe, because of its social and political structure, may have extra barriers to innovation, he says.
