Mental Health in the Face of Addiction
JULY 01, 2021
Although we may finally be starting to see the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, the addiction issues that spiked during the past 14 months may be more permanent. Data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) indicates that nearly 11 million full-time workers in the United States struggle with Substance Use Disorder. Depression and anxiety, reduced access to treatment, disruption to routines, and increased social isolation have caused addictions to spiral during the pandemic. Not only does addiction come with serious business consequences for employers, including lost productivity, increased health insurance claims, high turnover, and workplace theft, but SUD can also significantly impact workplace safety.
Employers are more concerned than ever before about the mental health and well-being of their employees. How can organizations better support their employees with substance use disorders while improving productivity, safety, and performance in the workplace? Join Spring Health to find out.
As an attendee of this webcast, you will learn how to:
- Show compassion. Make sure your teams and managers know that it’s welcomed for people to talk about substance use without stigma or fear of losing their jobs. Employees will be more inclined to seek treatment if they feel they are being supported in the workplace.
- Build community. Employee Resource Groups help employees socialize, work on professional development and openly discuss relevant issues in a more comfortable setting.
- Provide real support. Make sure processes are in place to ensure employees get access to the treatments they need. The time to invest more in mental health and SUD resources is now.
- Stay attuned. Always be on the lookout for changes in the health and well-being of your workforce so you can continue to find ways to help.
Who Should Attend: This webcast is designed for all HR and Benefits leaders, as well as anyone tasked with being the gatekeeper of their organization’s employee health and well-being.
