Public Trust in Financial Markets Makes Modest Comeback

Despite the long list of corporate scandals during 2000-2003, consumer trust is on the rise. A survey conducted in September 2002 and re-fielded in January and May 2003 reveals that fewer people said they had “less” trust in corporations and firms in each survey. Fewer people also said they viewed corporate earnings reports as “not credible” in each survey.

However, the majority of those surveyed, 65 percent, said they did not expect the investment climate to get better in the next six months.
