Despite increased reliance on economic-based rationales for board diversity, recent empirical data shows little change in actual board diversity. In light of this relative stagnation, this report argues that diversity advocates may need to revisit and acknowledge the role of social and moral justifications in the effort to diversify the corporate boardroom.
