As the complexity of leading a business has grown, the tasks of corporate leadership have become too great to for any individual or small group of top executives to manage. Leadership development programs need to work through others, build teams, and support business goals at all levels of management.
According to participants at The Conference Board’s 2006 Leadership Development Conference, tomorrow’s leaders are:
- learning agile, with a global mindset (to deal with the international commercial environment);
- able to cut through complexity (a requirement of the top management team); and
- skilled at building collaborative relationships (to channel motivation in positive directions).
