COVID-19: Metro areas at high risk of losing jobs

April 20, 2020 | Chart

Covid-19-employment impact industries

The spread of COVID-19 is having a dramatic impact on economic conditions across the US, but some areas will suffer more than others. Metro areas that rely on industries affected by social distancing, such as travel, hotels, entertainment, restaurants, and personal care, risk the biggest job losses. Other vacation destinations and oil-producing metro areas will be hard-hit as well. These areas will experience a longer, more severe recession.
