I have been a member of The Conference Board for many years and it has always provided valuable insights. It also offers stepping stones to the next level of thinking and engagement. The thought nuggets have helped me to enhance my own work. Much of the value is created by meeting peers in other organizations and understanding that while you have many dissimilar challenges and opportunities, you also face many similar challenges and opportunities. It is in this diverse and asymmetric space that you get challenged and stimulated. You are both stimulated and reminded how important it is to boldly make different choices and not be afraid to do so. After today, I will walk away thinking "I am going to take risks again, and push the envelope" - this is important.
What I have always appreciated with The Conference Board is that you bring in real subject matter experts and you have the opportunity to listen to market research, and scientific information, which I find incredibly important. I have always been in engineering-based industries and they like to see factual data as a base for your decision making. You have solid information upon which you can base your own thinking. When you are exposed to robust and relevant research, it really can be the catalyst to our discussions. I find that excellent, drawing me to attend. And on top of that, I also get the peer to peer discussions.
