The pace of change, including forced technological transformation during the pandemic, demands a workforce of life-long learners who continuously upgrade their technology skills as well as “soft” skills valued by employers, including critical thinking, communication, and creative, “out-of-the-box” thinking—skills that cannot be automated. In response, the US will need to execute a comprehensive, collaborative strategy for preparing, upskilling, and reskilling a future-ready workforce.
