Action: On September 29, the President issued a Proclamation establishing new tariffs of 10% on imports of softwood lumber, 25% on certain upholstered furniture (which will increase to 30% on January 1, 2026), and 25% on kitchen cabinets and vanities (which will increase to 50% on January 1, 2026). The Proclamation states that the United Kingdom, European Union, and Japan will be subject to lower rates reflecting the trade deals they have negotiated with the US.
