US-China Trade Deal — Getting the "Game Changer" for Business Right

The study of Chinese regulatory behavior, and how foreign companies can successfully navigate it, is one focal area of study and engagement for the China Center. This piece outlines some key reforms that would be game changing in this regard, and that perhaps US-China trade negotiations will avail – if not in first instance, then maybe later down the road. While different companies necessarily have different wants and needs from the negotiations that are specific to their sectors, we posit that all foreign companies would benefit hugely from three key changes: Market access, IP protection, and verification and enforcement.
