The Conference Board Economics Watch® Emerging Markets View

The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® suggests weakening near-term growth in China, India, Brazil, and Mexico. High debt levels leave little room for stimulating investment and consumption in China. The results of the presidential election in Brazil have recently helped improve confidence somewhat among businesses and could improve the outlook in the near term. Overall, The Conference Board global economic outlook released on November 13 projects a moderation of emerging market GDP growth from 3.8 percent in 2018 to 3.7 percent in 2019.
