As we continue our research efforts at the Digital Transformation Center, we are coordinating closely with our colleagues in the Innovation & Productivity Center—after all, digital transformation often follows innovation in the enterprise life cycle. Our goal is to establish consistent frameworks that cover the entire innovation/transformation pipeline to address issues such as measuring the value of business outcomes.
Likewise, our colleagues at the Society for New Communications Research have examined the related issue of managing and governing digital risk. In this month’s newsletter, we feature a fascinating report from its SNCR 2020 Series: Exploring New Communications Tools and Technologies that provides welcome context to recent high-profile breaches of data privacy and public trust.
Finally, as we focus on how enterprises can measure and govern their transformations, we must remember the foundational role of talent—and the competition for talent is intensifying. There is actually a twofold pressure: (1) recruiting and retaining the required talent, and (2) balancing how the talent pool and other resources are allocated to the steady-state business processes versus disruptive/transformative efforts.
