The US economy expanded at only a 0.7 annualized percent in the first quarter. But a spring bounce back in GDP growth will leave the trajectory of annual growth roughly in line with the long-term trend of about 2 percent. Consumer spending will continue to drive growth, but a sustained boost to business investment remains unlikely.
