Procurement organizations are at crossroads. The Conference Board Procurement Leadership Council foresees that the availability of new technologies will create significant change in the way procurement is conducted over the next three to five years and beyond. The digital transformation under way is overturning fundamental business paradigms and shattering long-held business truths. This in turn requires the reengineering of business models and processes as well as interactions with suppliers, customers, employees, and other stakeholders. The bottom line: The disruptive and game-changing impact of new digital technologies means procurement must redefine its role within the company.
