The Conference Board Economics Watch® Emerging Markets View

The recent improvement in global sentiment toward emerging markets does not imply a sustained economic recovery across the emerging economies. According to The Conference Board Global Economic Outlook May update, emerging markets as a whole will grow at 3.0 percent in 2016, slightly slower than the 3.1 percent growth reached in 2015. Moreover, near-term risks are still skewed to the downside in the major emerging market economies, as global economic conditions are far from stabilizing, and structural challenges will continue weighing on emerging economies’ growth performance.
