The Conference Board Economics Watch® European View

While Euro Area growth disappointed somewhat in the third quarter, the overall recovery has not derailed and consumer demand continues to lead the way. Overall economic sentiment is rising—especially in France and Italy—amid labor market improvements, opposing the trend in consumer confidence (which remains at a relatively high level). We project some acceleration of growth in Europe for the coming decade, but it is dependent on a pickup in investment and productivity growth.
