The acquisition and implementation of SAP software has become a significant investment in time and money for more than 6,000 corporations around the world. While many companies have had good experiences with enterprisewide software, all have found SAP implementation to be a major challenge with associated business risks. Consequently, The Conference Board took on a sponsored research effort to show the best practices, pitfalls, and experiences of companies implementing SAP software. This report is based on survey results and supplemental data collected from 186 companies in a broad cross section of industries around the world who have implemented or are in the process of implementing SAP.
