To receive the maximum value from social media investments, companies must understand each channel and its unique benefits and features and be able to manage the related risks. The substantial potential pitfalls from social media use, however, should not dissuade an organization from exploiting these media for many business purposes, including recruiting. With appropriate awareness of the risk factors involved, active participation in establishing policy by relevant stakeholders, and well-considered procedures and tools for training on and managing social media use, organizations of every size may reap the rewards in identifying, attracting, and retaining top talent.
