In theory, employee resource groups (ERGs) encourage diversity to ensure that a range of perspectives are used to achieve a company’s goals. But what are the true benefits of ERGs? According to The Conference Board Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council, employee groups can provide support in the areas of talent, corporate culture, image and reputation, and mentoring. But to do so, ERGs must have a clear mission that is connected to corporate strategy and a clearly defined leadership structure.
