Having more women in leadership roles is a competitive advantage, but much of the potential represented by women’s talent remains unrealized. Creating the conditions needed to unlock this potential remains a challenge, and women still face hard choices between professional success and personal fulfillment. Companies can improve women’s odds by understanding the social pressures women face and by strengthening their networking and sponsorship opportunities. Many women are raising their own stakes by focusing on their own professional development instead of waiting for leadership styles and bias to change.
