China Productivity Quarterly

For all its importance, productivity is not properly measured in China today, primarily because of both methodological challenges and data issues. For these reasons, The Conference Board China Center for Economics and Business has selected productivity measurement as a priority for its research on China’s economic performance.

This report is the first in a regular series of productivity reports on China from The Conference Board. Our intention is to gradually “peel the onion” on productivity measurement and business issues in China—from labor productivity to total factor productivity across specific industries, regions, and firm ownership types—and engage in and promote debate and dialogue between corporate members of The Conference Board, government leaders, academic and other research institutions, and the Chinese and global economics and business community at large on important issues related to productivity in China.
