Employee Engagement in a VUCA World: A Review of Current Research and Its Implications

A phrase borrowed from military circles, VUCA means volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous—an accurate description of the work setting, and often the world, in the “new normal” since the Great Recession. This research review report looks at employee engagement in this “new normal”—the state of engagement, its drivers, and the various studies that quantify these. This report combines analysis of some of the most important employee engagement research of today and puts it into perspective for members.
