On the Record with Barry Melacon

In an interview conducted by Kathie von Ankum of The Conference Board, Barry Melancon, President and CEO of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, expands on the issues raised in The Conference Board's 2008 CEO Challenge survey. Like other non-profits, the AICPA has been affected by the economic crisis — and their members are in the news more and more because of the changing regulatory climate that is part of the response to the crisis.

Melancon discusses some of the successful initiatives that the AICPA has taken to build a strong pipeline for the accounting profession, and ways that they have expanded their services to be of increasing value to their members. They have been successful through a relentless commitment to execution (one of the leading issues identified in the CEO Challenge surveys), attending to the human side of the business, and customer service.
