From being compliance driven and tactical at its inception, diversity and inclusion (D&I) has grown into a business-driven, strategic function. Factors driving the need for more and better D&I practitioners include a new social and political climate, increased compliance, and technology that raises expectations about inclusion even as it decreases personal communication. Seven core competency categories can define and manage expectations for D&I practitioners on all levels.
