For example, on Chinese traveling to the United States to shop: "What’s really interesting about them is that they will spend $99 to stay in a cheap hotel in New Jersey, but then when it comes to shopping, they will spend $7,000 in a shop on Fifth Avenue.… It’s because many Chinese will only spend on things that they can show off to other people.”
