It is a pleasure to introduce this monthly newsletter, my first as President of the Committee for Economic Development. While new to the role, I am no stranger to CED, having been a longtime Trustee. I’m honored to take the reins of a mission that’s as relevant today as it’s ever been in our 76-year history.
Overcoming years of inertia and partisan impasse starts with understanding all that’s at stake. Take CED’s Debt 101 series. In Parts I and II, we traced the roots and ramifications of runaway federal deficits, and the delicate compromises necessary to forestall this slow-moving national emergency. As you’ll see in this newsletter, Part III continues the journey to the intersection of growing federal debt and the primary cause of it: soaring healthcare costs.
I look forward to sharing our insights in future newsletters and engaging all of you in helping to advance reasoned solutions in the nation’s interest.
