We are getting ready to launch C-Suite Challenge 2020 in September—the twentieth edition of our annual survey. An anniversary! We want to hear from top executives about what may keep them awake at night in the next year. Will recession risk still top the list of external concerns, as it did last year? Are geopolitical and geo-economic issues—trade disputes, Brexit, Hong Kong—dominating uncertainty? Or are deeper concerns over economic fundamentals (slowing global growth, weak investment, ever lower yields on long-term bonds) taking over?
But we also want to look beyond the short-term, and understand how organizations are preparing themselves for the future. This year's survey shines a new light on external collaborations—seemingly the new mantra for building competitive advantages in this brave new world. We're learning how companies have developed new types of collaboration with unconventional partners, including universities, think tanks, startups, governments, companies in unrelated industries or sectors, and even direct competitors to achieve common business objectives.
I invite you revisit last year's C-Suite Challenge 2019 report, and consider joining us for our flagship Future-Ready Organization conference, October 2-3 in New York. Eleven panels will run the gamut of concerns driving C-suites, from trends in global growth and American competitiveness, to the future of work, new ways of serving your customer, and the ongoing governance revolution.
