Ten years ago, The Conference Board published a competency model for diversity and inclusion practitioners, drawing on the first-hand insights of over seventy members of our diversity councils in the US, Europe, and Asia.
There’s a huge amount in the competency model that is still relevant (you can access a copy of the publication here). But as I speak with our peer-to-peer networks about the diversity and inclusion practitioner role in 2018, it's clear there's been change as well. Today it’s as much about co-creating and enabling bottom-up change as it is about delivering a top-down strategy. Another change is in the trends driving action on diversity. More companies now recognize that diversity sparks innovation—highly prized in today’s fast-moving business environment (see below for more).
Our annual diversity and inclusion conference is a great opportunity for you to meet experienced diversity and inclusion practitioners from leading companies, and those new to the role. It’s one of North America’s longest running and best attended gatherings of D&I and business leaders that consistently addresses the most important issues in this area.
