The Conference Board began tracking corporate giving in 1943, as World War II was nearing its climax. With victory riding on the total mobilization of society, there was an urgent need to make sense (and dollars) of companies’ philanthropic efforts, at home and abroad.
These societal contributions would evolve enormously in scope, scale, and status over the proceeding decades and generations. One thing never changed: For 75 years, The Conference Board has remained at the forefront of advancing effective corporate citizenship.
Around the world, our councils, conferences, and research are helping today’s corporate social responsibility executives navigate turbulent times with trusted insights for what’s ahead. Take a journey with us through the history and potential futures of corporate philanthropy with essays, podcasts, and an illustrated timeline at our special 75th Anniversary site.
