One of the topics that will be discussed at next month’s Philanthropy & Engagement Council’s meeting in Winston-Salem is the corporation’s role in society. This topic is increasingly being debated on the world stage by both those who embrace business and those who seek structural change. Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s bill, the Accountable Capitalism Act, has even brought the debate to the US Congress. We as corporate citizenship executives are traveling an ever more challenging road with many more issues to navigate around. My latest blog, Our World, Our Work: Purpose and Impact in a Time of Change, talks about the lack of trust people have in our institutions. While this is disconcerting, it presents opportunities for companies to engage in new and different ways.
