Public Policy Center Newsletter - May 2019

CED will host its second Policy Symposium on June 18, 2019 in Washington, DC. This event will continue the conversation on how best to drive our new research agenda forward, focusing on US competitiveness and global leadership in a rapidly changing, 21st-century economy. During our first Symposium on April 3, CED Trustees listened to and engaged with experts in discussing the critical issues affecting America’s future prosperity. These topics included how technology changes the economic landscape and the challenges posed by China to American competitiveness and leadership abroad.

At the June 18 event, we will go deeper into these issues and discuss CED’s draft policy statements on improving US-China trade relations and increasing labor force participation. Trustees will also engage with thought leaders to explore other critical issues where CED can play a role in providing reasoned policy solutions. Additionally, we will host a Trustee dinner on June 17, with a review of CED’s new book Smart Regulation, Changing Speed Bumps into Guardrails.
