Business executives in France see geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, and advances in AI technology as key issues contributing to a highly volatile and unpredictable business environment in 2025. Like other European countries in C-Suite Outlook 2025: Seizing the Future from The Conference Board, most executives in France plan to rethink their organizations’ supply chains over the short to medium term.

Key Insights

  • Executives in France identify economic uncertainties related to trade wars and cybersecurity risks are the two main external threats to business operations in 2025.
  • Cybersecurity is cited by two in five executives as the top external geopolitical risk in 2025 due to an increase in cyberattacks in recent years. However, this concern is not reflected in internal priorities: only 11% of executives cite mitigating cyber risk as an internal area of focus for the year.
  • Faced with geopolitical and economic challenges, 82% of respondents plan to rethink their supply chains in the next three to five years. The primary motivations are to lower the risk of disruptions, green supply chains, and reduce costs.
  • Internally, economic underperformance due to recession, high and persistent inflation, and deteriorating public finances globally are seen as high-impact issues for French firms. To address these concerns, executives plan to reduce costs and enhance workforce productivity. Addressing talent shortages and successfully implementing emerging technologies like AI are also identified as essential to drive innovation.
