Press Release / News
The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® for Spain Declined
11 June, 2018

Please visit the detail page for: The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® for Spain.

NOTE: This month’s release incorporates a mid-year benchmark revision to the composite economic indexes, which bring them up-to-date with revisions in the source data. In addition, in this benchmark revision, Order Books Survey (%Bal, SA, 3mma), a component of the Leading Economic Index for Spain (i.e. the component that was calculated using Order Book Forecast -DISC (NSA, %Bal), which was discontinued by the source agency in December 2017, has been replaced with a new component calculated using Industrial Business Survey: Order Book (NSA, %Bal). The Conference Board research has determined that the new component is an appropriate substitute for the discontinued series. Furthermore, a new trend adjustment period was also introduced with this revision. The impact of the revision to the cyclical properties of the indexes is minimal. For more information, please visit our website at http://www.conference-board.org/data/bci.cfm or contact us at indicators@conference-board.org.

The indexes are updated throughout the year, but only for the previous six months. Data revisions that fall outside of the moving six-month window are not incorporated until the benchmark revision is made and the entire histories of the indexes are recomputed. As a result, the revised indexes, in levels and month-on-month changes, will not be directly comparable to those issued prior to the benchmark revision.
