Background
Companies are facing ESG backlash from a variety of quarters, including elected officials, regulators, investors, customers, employees, executives, and board members. Backlash is being driven by those with motivations ranging from healthy skepticism to philosophic opposition, to self-serving opportunism. And it has also been helped along by, in some cases, the overselling of ESG from its proponents.
Join this Roundtable to discuss, 1) the current scope and state of ESG backlash, and what the future may hold, 2) the impact of ESG backlash on companies (according to The Conference Board C-Suite Outlook 2023, 71 percent of US CEOs say that ESG backlash will have no significant impact on their company’s sustainability-related investments, while 21 percent say it is resulting in a shifting of priorities), and 3) the tailored strategies that companies are using to address ESG backlash and to reduce the risk of it in the future.
Description
