The Council is a vehicle for senior purchasing executives to exchange views and experiences on a peer-to-peer basis and to follow their field’s rapidly changing trends. The marketplace and conditions for the purchasing professional have changed significantly over the last several years, and there is no indication that this trend will change. In fact, the battle not only for talent but also for commodities and other materials and equipment is proving increasingly challenging.
This Council addresses issues that chief procurement officers face when implementing strategies for change. Organizational structures (the role of the procurement office), management standards, tools and processes for best-in-class performance, cost controls, suppliers' relations, and partnerships are regularly discussed. In a confidential setting, members share their initiatives, their experiences with fluctuating market demands, and ways to anticipate risks.
